Stinkin' Cute Santa Ornament

A big thank you to the girls at the Cricut With Heart blog.  I pinned this stinkin’ cute ornament last year and it was perfect for my gift to the office girls this year.  Once I cut out everything they came together pretty fast.

Here are the details – I tweaked some of the dimensions from their original post.
  • ·        Body -Artiste – Page 53 – 3D Object, size 4 ½ “ – various red B&T paper and Cranberry or Ruby CS
  • ·        PomPom - Artiste – page 62 – Accent 2, size 1” – silver glitter paper
  • ·        Hat Trim - Artiste – page 62 – Accent 4, size ¾ ” – White Daisy CS
  • ·        Mustache - Artiste – page 67 – Shift, Accent 2, size ¾” – White Daisy CS
  • ·        Nose - Artiste – page 48 – Card, size .40 cm – Parchment CS (retired), (I changed the settings to reflect centimeters)
  • ·        Holly Leaf - Art Philosophy – page 48 - , size 1” – New England Ivy CS
  • ·        Face – 1 ¼” x 2”, Parchment CS (retired)
  • ·        Beard – 3” x 1 ½”, White Daisy CS (I cut strips of 3” wide CS and ran through embossing folder then cut to 1 ½” strips)
  • ·        Other: Bakers twine, glitter gems, Opaques, pink chalk for cheeks.

While the body was still flat I stamped the bottom with B1475 Handmade Stamp (from Seasonal Expressions available December 1st) and initialed and dated it.  Then I did the folds.  Then, while still flat, I adhered the beard, face and hat trim pieces.  Those pieces were trimmed to fit the triangle piece.  The holly leaves, glitter gems, eyes (Opaque gems – retired) were added next.  Bakers twine was doubled, tied in a knot and adhered to the inside top.  Then I applied adhesive to the flaps and formed the triangle box.  The Glitter PomPom was added last.
PS - that's my cat Yumi in one of the pics.  I was taking the pictures on her perch in front of the window for better lighting and she had to see what was going on.

Rose Blossom Challenge

I'm playing along with the Rose Blossom Challenge again.   This time we are supposed to use the K key from the Artiste cartridge.  I chose to make the slider card.  Here's a tip when cutting out this slider card: cut the card part first at your desired size then cut the sleeve out at the same size.  I made the mistake of cutting the sleeve first at 5.5 - a standard card size  - and I couldn't figure out why the sleeve wasn't 5.5 high.  I also used the downloadable "You make me Happy" tags.  You can download your own set of tags too here .  Thanks for looking and be sure to check out the Rose Blossom Challenge blog for more great ideas.

Mother's Day Key - Artiste

I was happy to see the next challenge over at Rose Blossom Challenge Blog was the Mother's Day key.  Last week I took inspiration from Lisa Stenz's Mother's Day card and made these two cards.  I didn't have the Mother's Day stamp that Lisa used so I decided to use my cricut.  I cut off the "#1" off of the cut and just used the "Mom".  I made one clear card and one die cut card with some shimmer paper to add some bling.

But I wanted to make something new for the challenge so I looked at the Mother's Day page in the book and was drawn to the crown image.  I made a similar card earlier but used a different tiara.  This image screams Queen!  Don't you think?  I didn't have a stamp that said Birthday Queen so I just printed it on my computer.  No stamping on this card but lot's of bling!

Cupcake Card from Artiste

I needed a card for my niece that is turning 7 on Halloween.  I used the Cricut Artiste cartridge to cut out the cupcake card at 4 3/4 out of non CTMH cardstock.  Then I cut the same image out again from  some retired Dotty for You paper.  I trimmed off the flap and ran through a crimper to add texture.  I cut out the icing image at 4 3/4 also.  I ran it through my Cuttlebug, added some Glitz Gel and some bling.  The Birthday Girl is cut at 1 1/2.  Silver Shimmer Trim closes the gap.  Hope she likes her cupcake!

Thanks to Fancy Melissa and Cricut with Heart  for inspiration.

Thanks for looking.
